Everly is a city in Clay County, Iowa, United States. The population was 603 in the 2010 census, a decline from 647 in the 2000 census. [1] [2] The Ocheyedan River flows to the south and west of the city.

2010 census

The 2010 census recorded a population of 603 in the city, with a population density of 548/sq mi (212/km2). There were 294 housing units, of which 270 were occupied. [1]

2000 census

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 647 people, 277 households, and 185 families residing in the city. The population density was 587.8 people per square mile (227.1/km²). There were 296 housing units at an average density of 268.9 per square mile (103.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.23% White, and 0.77% from two or more races.

There were 277 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 30.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.89.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $35,278, and the median income for a family was $41,458. Males had a median income of $30,192 versus $21,375 for females.
